How it works

Scar revision: 

The surgeon will first remove the unhealthy scar tissue. 

Graft harvesting: 

A thin sheet of healthy skin is harvested from the donor site, which is often a less visible area like the thigh. 

Grafting: 

The harvested skin is then transferred and attached to the prepared scar area. 

Healing: 

The new graft initially gets its blood supply from the wound bed beneath it, with new blood vessels eventually growing into the graft. 

Recovery and care

A bandage will be placed over both the graft and donor sites.
